DevSecOps/SRE (Norway/US)

Remote - Oslo, Oslo Norway

Who we are

IndyKite helps companies mobilize, secure and control their data landscape to build more innovative products and services that drive growth at the enterprise. Companies need a way to safely and securely use data and currently they lack the ability to properly combine data, understand the context in which it is being used and trust and control this data for the acceleration of growth both within their organization and with their partner ecosystems.

IndyKite provides the capabilities to deliver against their challenges, focusing on the capture of data from across silos, the connecting of and enriching this data to deliver more visibility, insights and trust and lastly, controlling data, which delivers access control necessary for secure and compliant use.

We are at the early stages of our journey and have already acquired a handful of FT500 customers and now we are looking for a new talented colleague to join our passionate team, preferably based in the US/Norway.

The role will be pivotal in ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of our infrastructure, while enhancing the security posture of our applications and services. If you have a passion for both DevOps and security, and are excited to work on challenging and innovative projects, we’d love to meet you!

Why we need you

As a fast-growing technology startup, we are disrupting the status quo and building a new category of services. This is a challenging and rewarding job. We are looking for a driven DevSecOps/SRE who can combine the principles of DevOps, security, and site reliability engineering (SRE) to create secure, scalable, and highly reliable systems.

Your role requires what all startups require - grit, enthusiasm and the ability to lean in and take ownership. The focus of this role is on ensuring the efficient development, deployment, and operation of software with a strong emphasis on security, automation, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure management. As our DevSecOps/SRE you will be responsible for the overall health, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure, applications, and services across production environments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and build reliable, distributed, and scalable production systems
  • Advocate automation by removing operation load with software
  • Write software in parallel to our product counterparts by adding features and/or building new products
  • Build and support software needed for backup or load balancing, in such a way that they can be reused across systems
  • Figure out how to apply existing solutions to new problems
  • Find ways to improve design and operations of existing systems, to make them more scalable, more reliable, and more efficient, but only up to a point where they are reliable enough
  • Focus on operating all-things services built atop our distributed computing systems, from internal infrastructure, to external services, to our developer community products

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and practical experience of Docker, Kubernetes (including service mesh / istio) and Terraform
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Cloud Services and Discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling and load balancing. GCP is an advantage
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like REST, gRPC
  • Deep understanding and experience of systems programming (network stack, file system, OS services) and networking (L2 vs. L3, network architecture, VLANs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years as an SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, equivalent technical degree, or relevant practical experience

Desired qualities and things you need to succeed;

  • Experience with running multi-cluster Kubernetes environments and strong understanding of multi-tenancy and security implications
  • Experience with large scale distributed cloud service development, infrastructure, traffic management and architecture, GCP preferred
  • Experience with digital identity platforms and the world of IAM
  • Strong problem solving skills, especially in high pressure environments
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for learning and adopting new technologies
